It's pretty simple in theory, but most of the time I can't get it to work properly. Often the colors dry on the water surface before I can add some swirls, so I'm still experimenting with different colors and water temperature.
If everything works out, it still takes a little time because I tape off my fingers so I have the polish on my nails only. But to get such a nice result it's really not that much of an effort
